CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Our Orthodontic Office’s Safety Precautions

To help stop the spread of all respiratory infections, including COVID-19, we adhere to standardized infection control measures. These measures include offering face masks to patients who are coughing, providing tissues and no-touch receptacles to dispose of used tissues, and performing hand hygiene. Our orthodontic practice in Cary, NC, follows routine disinfection and cleaning strategies, using water and cleaners to pre-clean surfaces before applying an EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectant, as well as proper sterilization of all equipment and tools. We also use new gloves and face masks for each patient as recommended by CDC and the FDA.

While we already adhere to these standard precautions in our Cary orthodontic office, we are also implementing several common-sense recommendations to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, which include:

      • Screening our patients for symptoms of COVID-19 infection when we update their medical histories.
      • Ensuring our gloves, masks, and eye protection are suitable for the procedures performed.
      • Frequently cleaning and disinfecting public areas, including bathrooms, chairs, and door handles.

If you have an orthodontic appointment scheduled within the next few weeks, please contact our orthodontic office in Cary, NC, if you experience any of the following:

      • Cough
      • Shortness of breath
      • Fever
      • Travel within the past 14 days to geographical regions affected by the virus

One of our talented and experienced team members, led by Dr. Bernstein, will discuss your health status, the orthodontic treatment you require, and whether or not visiting our office will be safe for you, our staff, and our other patients.

When visiting our office, we recommend that you arrive on time for your appointment, rather than too early. This will reduce the time you spend in our reception area or waiting room. Please put on a face mask if you’re experiencing any respiratory symptoms.

How can you prevent contracting or spreading COVID-19?

        • Perform hand hygiene by washing your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If you have no access to soap and water, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
        • Maintain a minimum distance of six feet between yourself and anyone who is sneezing or coughing.
        • Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes.
        • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough, and dispose of the tissue properly. Do not use your hands. Sneeze or cough into your elbow if you have no tissue.
        • Stay at home if you feel sick. Seek immediate medical attention and call your healthcare provider in advance if you have a cough, fever, or difficulty breathing. Calling your healthcare provider in advance will allow them to quickly direct you to the right healthcare facility.
